A Short Biography from Mark Potter

Born in Alma Michigan - a long time ago.  I joined the United States Army in 1970 – 1973 and then joined the United States Navy 1974 – 1997 and retired I work for a government contractor now.

I rode dirt bikes for a while in my late teens, and in my early 20's I had a 750 Yamaha for a while.   Gave up riding in 1980 and did not ride again till I got my first Harley. It was a 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic. After that I was hooked. I went and got a 2004 Ultra  Classic but I was not done yet. I got rid of both the Road King and the Ultra Classic for  my 2005 CVO Screaming Eagle Electra Glide. After I road the Screaming Eagle for a  couple of years, I missed my Road King so I went and got a 2007 Road King Classic.  That is how I started to ride Harley-Davidson's.

I started building a trike kit from my wife Debra's Sportster on 7/30/2011.  I'll periodically have a few pictures posted here through the transition of the build.  We're excited.  It ought to track and perform quite well, be very functional and look cool too!

August 7th, Debra made her maiden voyage today on her trike. Debra rode the trike and I was on our Harley. We went all the way out to Ewa and back home to Mililani, to include some freeway riding. Debra did good riding the TRIKE.

Saturday August 13th, Debra brought out her new customized Harley-Davidson Sportster on her very first group ride with the chapter.  As the ride progressed into the day, it was evident Debra was enjoying her new ride. She handled her new HOG in residential areas, Kaneohe, Waimanalo to Hawaii Kai, to H-1 and out to H-2, and up to Haleiwa, then down Kunia Road, back on H-1 and home to Mililani. . . a full day of HOG adventure on her new HOG.  Pretty cool!  She says it's her birthday and Christmas present! She's a happy Ladies of Harley rider.  And we're happy as a member with Windward Oahu Harley Owners Group, we got to experience her adventure with us first!

Mark has included an in-depth walk-a-round video file of him disassembling the rear end of the Sportster and building it back up into a trike.  It's quite the project.  Kudos's Mark!  He said he had about 24 hours into the project.  Click on "Mark's Trike Build Video" below.  Depending on your connection, give the Windows Media File a moment to start streaming.  It's about 125 meg file but plays smoothly with a high speed connection.
