  Volunteers

Without volunteers, the Harley Owners Group® as we know it would not exist. Chapters would not form. Events would not happen.
Many programs would not be possible. In other words, volunteers comprise an essential, highly valued part of the H.O.G.® organization.

Each year, literally tens of thousands of people volunteer with H.O.G. at some level. For instance, more than 12,000 people currently
serve as chapter officers worldwide. What this means is, if you're looking to get more involved, meet new people, experience new
things, and have a lot of fun in the process, you've definitely come to the right place!

Where to Start

There are many ways to get involved, but as a general rule, it all starts with the chapters. So the first thing to do if you're interested in
helping out is to contact your local chapter, or sponsoring dealer or retailer. As alluded to above, one way to get involved is by serving
as a chapter officer. Each chapter has four official "primary" officers and any number of additional "discretionary" officers:

  Primary Officers
  Director
  Assistant Director
  Secretary
  Treasurer
  Head Road Captain (appointed)
Discretionary Officers
Activities Officer
Ladies of Harley®
Officer
Editor
Safety Officer
Photographer
Membership Officer
Webmaster
Historian
Note: Each chapter has its own process
for selecting these officers.

Finally, no discussion of volunteering would be complete without extending a huge THANK YOU to the many members who have
(and who will be) donated so much of their time, effort, and enthusiasm over the years. Without you, H.O.G. wouldn't be what it is today:
the largest, most fun factory sponsored motorcycle club the world has ever seen.

A few other notes about volunteering:

w H.O.G. makes every effort to ensure
that volunteers always have fun. The
H.O.G. motto is "To Ride and Have Fun".
This applies to volunteers, as well as
riders. Volunteering is a great way to meet
new people and experience new things
w Volunteering once does not mean volunteering for life. Please don't hesitate
to make yourself available because you're
afraid it means you'll be expected to do so every time.
w Volunteering is a "no experience necessary" activity. When you volunteer,
we'll always make sure you get all the training, support, and help you need, so
you'll never feel lost or in over your head.
